Carmel Debono known as Nenu to family and friends, was born into a family of bakers in Qormi in the 1950s. Nenu learned the baker's trade from his father and other close relatives acquiring the unique skills of baking the variety of Maltese bread.
Nenu's love and passion for his trade made him safeguard his heritage and the artisan skills and envision a local cuisine with traditional Maltese food at its core, confident of its nutritional value, his commitment towards safeguarding and reviving the recipes and past eating habits of tradition has lead him to create the most traditional eating experience at Nenu the artisan baker local cuisine, This place embodies a 100 year old stone oven which is still used till now to bake our famous traditional Ftira, just like how it used to be back in the old days.
